I reprojected that map, cleaned it up and cleared away the text in order to create this map. The basis for this map comes from a map found in the Final Fantasy XIII Scenario Ultimania book (link).
This is the only game in the Final Fantasy series not to feature a world map anywhere in the game, so most players won't be familiar with how this world looks.
So if you looked into Cocoon through this hole from the outside, this is what you'd see.Ĭocoon is the setting of the game Final Fantasy XIII, along with the world of Gran Pulse. This map shows the entirety of the inside of the sphere, the map being projected in a way so that the broken edge of the shell makes up the outer rim of the map, and from the viewpoint of looking into the inner sphere through this hole. Six centuries ago a great war between Cocoon and Pulse was waged which was responsible for breaking a large hole in Cocoon's outer shell, exposing its interior. Standing on the inner surface of Cocoon, the horizon appears to curve upward into the sky, and when looking up, what appear to be stars in the sky are the distant lights of cities on the opposite side of the inner sphere. Cocoon is home to many futuristic cities, such as the floating capital of Eden, home to the governing Sanctum, which floats in the centre of the sphere, the port city of Palumpolum, the beach town of Bodhum, and the carnival city of Nautilus. Inside this sphere is a futuristic paradise filled with highly advanced technology where its millions of inhabitants live, ruled by the Sanctum. It was constructed and set in the sky by the powerful and enigmatic beings known as the fal'Cie many centuries ago under the premise of protecting humanity from the savage world of Pulse below.
Cocoon is a massive hollow sphere that floats in the atmosphere above the world of Pulse like a low-hanging moon.
